Ken Plackett

Ken Plackett

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Ken Plackett, seen here receiving an award on his retirement from Colette Marshall, Director of Operations, Diabetes UK.

Ken was a founder member of our Group when it started in 1979 and was very active until 2014 when his health deteriorated and he retired from the Group.

His daughter, Sue, sent the following message:

"This is just to let you know that dad died peacefully last week. He was at home (as he wanted), with mum holding his hand and his favourite cat asleep by his feet. He’d been in hospital with a severe chest infection, and when they did a scan it was discovered that the original renal cancer had spread significantly, so we knew he didn’t have long left. It is comforting to know that we got him home and his last few weeks were spent with his family around him.

His funeral will be on Monday March 25th, 11:30 am at the Oak Chapel Crownhill Crematorium. This will be followed by a light buffet lunch (venue TBC!). Flowers are welcome, or if preferred a donation to a charity of personal choice in memory of dad.

Please share the news and details of the funeral with any colleagues/friends who knew him at Diabetes UK - all are welcome to attend.

All of us in the Milton Keynes Diabetes UK group send our deepest condolences to Ken's family.
